Nestled between New Port Richey and Clearwater, the quaint city of Palm Harbor offers up championship golfing at a PGA tour site, shopping and eateries, marinas and canals, and nearby beaches and natural areas.
Famous for it’s Innisbrook Golf Club, Palm Harbor has been ranked one of the top 75 golf clubs in America by Golf Digest. They host an annual PGA Tour championship and one of the LPGA Legend majors. Consisting of 4 individual courses, Innisbrook offers various layouts to satisfy each type of golfer. Some courses include as much as 70 feet of elevation change and vary from par 36 to par 72.
Although Palm Harbor is typically a residential area, its beautiful oceanside views and friendly atmosphere have made it the site of many festivals and gatherings. The annual Taste of Palm Harbor, held on the first Sunday of October offers a selection of the best food and beverages that the city has to offer. You can come and sample JJ Gandy’s Famous Key Lime Pies or join the other 20,000 plus visitors who partake in this annual event. Another popular Palm Harbor event is a family-friendly block party held on the first Friday of every month. The block party includes live music, activities for kids and food and art vendors.
Although not in Palm Harbor, there are several notable beaches within minutes of this beautiful city. Honeymoon Island (accessible via the Dunedin Causeway) and Caladesi Island (accessible via boat or ferry) both offer beautiful white sand beaches just off the Gulf Coast minutes from the cities of Palm Harbor and Neighboring Dunedin. Anclote Key Preserve and Beach is another nearby coastal attraction. This pristine set of four islands can only be reached by boat or ferry and are unique from most Florida’s beaches due to their abundant wildlife, historic lighthouse, and primitive setting. Although camping sites, bathrooms and charcoal grills are provided, this secluded island chain does not contain any power or vendors. If you visit you must bring your own water, food and supplies.
Palm Harbor and the adjacent Gulf Coast offer all the tropical charm of Florida without the huge crowds and distractions of larger surrounding attractions like Clearwater Beach or St. Pete Beach. With a family-friendly atmosphere, Palm Harbor is perfect for young children or retired couples wanting a relaxing Florida vacation.
